August 6th is National Sisters Day! Here’s a roundup of some great stories that center around sisters, share them with your sister or people who you love like a sister!

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell (Young Adult section – YA ROWELL): In Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan, but for Cath, being a fan is her life-and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series. Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. – Here the sisters are struggling with their relationship as they go to college and grow.

Pride and prejudice and zombies by Seth Grahame-Smith (Science Fiction – SF GRAHAME-SETH): The subtitle for this novel is “the classic regency romance– now with ultraviolent zombie mayhem”. The plot still revolves around Elizabeth (Lizzy) Bennet and her sisters, all of whom are now zombie-slayers. If zombies aren’t your thing you can check out the classic version of this by Jane Austen (Fiction AUSTEN).

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (Young Adult section – YA COLLINS): Maybe this seems like an odd one for this list but it is clear that Katniss and Prim Everdeen are devoted to each other, especially when Katniss volunteers to take Prim’s place in the Hunger Games!
